The snow-white splendor of White Cave House in Kanazawa: a stylish cave in the heart of the city by Takuro Yamamoto Architects
With its snow-white brilliance and stylish modern design, White Cave House, designed by Takuro Yamamoto Architects in Kanazawa, is a unique and captivating home. The residence is tucked in the middle of the city and is comprised of multiple blocks, creating a distinct meandering shape that follows the natural contours of the landscape. This innovative dwelling uses skylights to draw in natural light, and an unusual cave entrance which provides an unforgettable and enchanting atmosphere. By creating dynamic spaces within its walls, the architects are able to bring nature and city together seamlessly, making White Cave House a truly unique and captivatingexperience.
The house has a huge exterior space, with a minimalist design and a snow-proof entrance, as well as a huge garage for several cars, an outdoor terrace and a courtyard. It was decided to connect the exterior space into one “tube” or “cave”.
Each part is quite versatile, and it makes up for the limited space. This “cave” is not straight, which helps hide its inhabitants from prying eyes and preserve their privacy, but, at the same time, is completely “bathed” in sunlight. Throughout the day, you can see how the scene changes, depending on the position of the sun.
