Santa Barbara in the U.S. – an integral part of the financial well-being and refined taste. Forum City believes that this prestigious area can not be tasteless and tawdry buildings with pretensions to the local Taj Mahal.
The venerable architect Noel Cook built the private residence on his own, he did not have to defend to the client the aesthetic and functional merits of a project that was quite revolutionary for the 1950s.
Laconic interior, optimal use of space, huge windows flooding the rooms with light, breathtaking views from the overhanging terrace: you can’t help but fall in love with this home.
In 2006 the property changed hands and the new owners decided to refurbish the slightly dilapidated villa. The well-known AB design studio in the region has carefully handled the complex reconstruction: The original proportions were preserved and the original beam and column rhythm was restored while the foundation and the supporting frame of the building were renovated.
The decor consists of authentic materials or their closest possible approximation. Only the utilities were significantly changed and modern appliances were added. The unmistakable air of liberty which was there from the beginning has not been touched and the swift and proud silhouette is still relevant sixty years later.
The striking renovation of Noel Cook’s iconic Santa Barbara villa looks incredible! I’m curious to know what inspired the design choices for this renovation? Was there a specific theme or architectural style that guided the transformation?
