The stony topography was left untouched by the decision to build the houses on stilts. Both buildings appear to float at dusk, and the occupants have a commanding view of their surroundings from their lofty terraces and walkways.
The challenge for the architects was to reconcile the carefree lifestyle of a summer residence with the sometimes harsh weather conditions of the area. To this end, the wooden frames of the houses have been clad with a material that requires almost no maintenance. White facades support the area’s tradition of building design.
Interior surfaces are clad with raw spruce panels. In bright sunlight their color becomes even warmer and richer, thanks to which the decor stands out against the background of the subdued northern landscape.
The client and his large family have their own summer living space as a result of this project. Now the understated beauty of this rugged region is revealed to them in all its splendor every day.

This summer house with sliding glass walls looks truly remarkable! I’m curious to know how weather-resistant and secure these walls are in order to provide a seamless indoor-outdoor experience. Are there any additional design features or mechanisms that ensure privacy and safety when the walls are open?
