A free life of a former city dweller in the tropical paradise of the Balinese mountains – a unique bungalow project for those who love absolute freedom

The Balinese mountains are a tropical paradise with a unique bungalow project, perfect for people who want to experience true freedom. This project gives former city dwellers a chance to escape the hustle and bustle of the city while enjoying the natural beauty of the mountainside. Inside the bungalows, you will find modern amenities — including a fully equipped kitchen, hot tubs, and comfortable living areas. You can also relax in the lush gardens surrounding the property or explore the rich biodiversity of flora and fauna in the nearby forest. The bungalows offer an incredible opportunity to reconnect with nature, which is sure to bring an unparalleled sense of peace and joy.
The façade of a mountain home in Bali

The house is surrounded by the fruit trees of the local villagers. Simon says he feels very safe and secure, being able to talk to the farmers who pass by on their own business. He felt much more comfortable in his bungalow, open to all winds and prying eyes, than in his London apartment, which he had to lock up for fear of being burgled.

Work space on the second floor

Simon’s workstation on the top floor of the house is a hammock chair, in which he rests with his laptop. Just the dream come true for all office workers!

A place to rest and read

Here we also see two simple layouts for resting and reading books.

No wonder Evans couldn’t give up his wonderful oasis and decided to stay in Bali. Despite the endless possibilities of living in London, Simon suffered from a lack of social interaction caused by his constant employment and preoccupation with earning a living.

Interior decorations with tropical flowers

Fruit and flowers act as the few decorative objects that adorn the bungalow’s minimalist interior. The impression of being in a bamboo grove.

Hand made slats on the roof

It was a fascinating sight. Piles of plates made by the hands of men and women from different families stacked along the roads, illustrating the grand scale of the work and the coherence of the Balinese.

Kitchen interior design

The open kitchen on the first floor communicates with the outside. Simon prefers to prepare his meals with local produce, minimizing the need to buy produce at the market.

An open bungalow surrounded by trees

The bungalow is just a few hundred meters from a rainforest protected area. This protects the area from intrusion by poachers, mountain bikers, and hikers whose careless actions could be detrimental to the environment.

Bali's open house design

The structure of the house follows the silhouette of Mount Batukaru in the background. The area of the forest where Evans’ bungalow is built is about 2000 m2. Once a coffee plantation, today this picturesque land is home to a variety of fruits, vegetables, leafy crops and herbs.
