Home renovation: Basement interior in a stylish design project with surprises at every turn!

This interior design project provides a stylishly renovated basement with unexpected surprises around every corner. The result is a unique, modern space that is perfect for entertaining friends and family. Special attention was paid to bringing natural light and soft textures into the room, creating an inviting atmosphere in the usually dark and drab environment of a basement. This remodeling also includes a bar area to wow and impress guests, as well as clever, hidden storage solutions to keep the space looking neat and uncluttered.

Home renovation, the interior of which you want to update, allowing it to play with new colors – an interesting task for designers. Today we welcome you all to Minneapolis, Minnesota. We want to tell you about the talented designer Jeff Lindgren, who took on the task of remodeling the basement of a client’s home. He set himself the task of creating an unusual room for customers, which would be a place for evening relaxation after a day of work. And on weekends and holidays it will host guests. The artist designed this project by drawing inspiration from the great American architect Frank Lloyd Wright.

Basement room in numbers
Who lives here: a married couple.
Address: Minneapolis.
Area: 130 m2.

Basement fountain

The master used ecological design: an abundance of natural light, natural wood, decorative water features. It united the multi-level space of the house. The link is the original chandelier hanging from the second floor. An interesting design element was the fountain in the basement. The gentle murmur of the water soothes, relaxes, and refreshes your mind.

Interior design of the lounge

Let’s look at the zoning of the living room in more detail. In one part of the room is a lounge area with four comfortable sofas, a small table, a TV, and a bar.

The second half has a games room with a pool table. Three-sided fireplace is placed in the center. It decorates and warms up the entire living room. A chimney is built into one of the decorative columns. Flooring of beige color perfectly combines with shades of cabinet and upholstered furniture.

Basement bar area

At the entrance to the right of the stairs is a cozy little bar. The ceiling above the poker table is lined with spruce slats. This corner is furnished with furniture made of cherry wood. Magical warm shades of cherry wood make the atmosphere especially warm.

The cabinets are made of mahogany. Faucet, pipes and other hardware made of bronze. The interior used American fixtures of the world famous brand Hubbardton Forge. Such a choice is due to their impeccable design and high quality.

A concealed door to the storeroom

Another interesting detail: The hidden door in the bar is hidden behind a cabinet. The door opening is 120 centimeters. And it opens with a light touch of the hand. Guess what’s waiting for you behind it? Maybe a long, dark cavern that swallows up everyone who enters it?
There must be wine and cheese tastings deep underground. And maybe there are interesting finds waiting there – antique pots of gold and dancing fairy leprechauns? This is the picture that Lindgren jokingly likes to describe.

In fact, the secret door leads to a large pantry with a refrigerator and a freezer.

Interior decorative elements made of natural wood

Note the small shelf near the pool table. It’s designed for drinks and snacks, which are sure to be needed in between games.

Cherry wood cabinets

The designer placed many shelves, cabinets and racks directly next to the walls. It allows you to fit a lot of necessary things and free up room space.

Poker table in the lounge area

Designer put a poker table in the corner across from the bar. He gave it an unusual elliptical shape and covered it with green boughs. Cozy leather armchairs in black and beige are comfortably arranged all around. Arc-shaped notch on the ceiling is covered with fir planks. The furniture design elements were mahogany and cherry.

Bathroom finish

The bathroom finish is a pleasant surprise. As a console, the designer used a rectangular walnut plank table, reinforced with steel reinforcement on the inside, which gives stability. Furniture does not touch the mirrors and wall tiles.

Beautiful modern bathroom fixtures go well with brown and beige wall finishes. The original electric lights and candlesticks give unusual interior.

We’re very interested in your opinions on this renovation. Which surprises from the stylish design project did you like the most?
