Savioz renovation of a 150 year old country house in Eyent, Switzerland
Savioz Fabrizzi Architects have renovated a 150 year old country house in Eyent, Switzerland, preserving its rustic character while incorporating modern design elements. The renovated house offers appealing views of the Alps and tranquil landscape. The main feature of the design is the striking combination of historic stone and traditional wood, with contemporary materials. The ground floor combines a living space, kitchen, and dining room, while the upper floor boasts three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The extension to the house was built with materials that are resistant to natural elements, providing a pleasant bright space. The house now offers the perfect blend between traditional styling and modernity, creating a unique atmosphere.
The cottage, set in a meadow, was originally made for shepherds who lived there during the grazing season. In 1980 the building was given a new floor, the roof was restored, a new extension was added. So a shepherd’s hut is transformed into a country cottage. The latest changes to the building’s architecture were aimed at restoring its history. The original facade is exposed, revealing the old brick and stone masonry.
For the materials provided, we thank the studio Savioz Fabrizzi Architecte.
