Convenience of movement
It should be taken into account that recreation on the terrace is almost always associated with active movements. Someone carries groceries for the grill, children play and run around, someone climbs the steps from the garden. Pathways between the separate areas of the terrace should be separate and spacious.
If you’re not sure if there’s enough room for it, move farther away and size it up from a distance. You’ll get an intuitive feel for whether people walking toward you can freely part. If in doubt, it’s better to make the aisle bigger.
