Architects Polk Stanley Wilcox went unusual way in creating such buildings, creating the first full-fledged children’s educational institution in the state of Arkansas. Sculpture in the open space and large windows draw the attention of visitors
OPN Architects designed this library in accordance with LEED Platinum, maximizing daylighting and using a geothermal system, thereby minimizing the energy costs of the building itself.
The untreated roof surface and permeable paving throughout the adjoining grounds allow the building to retain 90% of all annual rainfall in underground rainwater collection chambers.
Natural light is a priority
Originally conceived by architect Paul Rudolph as the centerpiece of a suburban college, the building deteriorated over time and became unsightly.
Amazingly, the university didn’t even close the library during a two-year renovation followed by a transformation.

This LEED Gold library downtown is a brand new five-story building that was built using materials appropriate to Vancouver’s new and historic districts.
Fully in keeping with the Texas style
This LEED silver library, designed by Muñoz and Company, was built using all kinds of interesting local materials. The building’s facade cladding showcases San Saba sandstone supplies. Above the front door, framed in copper, a magnificent embossing, a decorative sample of which was designed by Mission San Jose.
The former 115-year-old courthouse and city hall has been restored and added to the new Slover Library by architects Newman and Tymoff + Moss.
