Fall is on the doorstep, and now is the perfect time to freshen up your plantings. This post is about how you can update your yard. How to make it hospitable to vegetation and people? Today we’re going to share with you some ideas that have to do with preparing for the rainy season.
Assess your yard for existing and number of problem areas
Look closely and try to find all its imperfections. The biggest outdoor problems are dead plants, weeds that need to be removed, and abandoned areas that need to be cleaned and refreshed.
Also assess the overall health of the greenery. Are there some that are surrounded by pests and get sicker because of it, or grow slower? Even simple changes in their structure can be a signal for help.
Take care of the lawn, gravel mounds, and paths
Do not think that all problem areas require immediate action. The zoysia lawn, for example, will be dormant all winter. So there is no need to change it now. Let’s leave it till spring.
Update and decorate flower pots and planters
Now it’s time to focus on the interesting stuff – potted plants! Nothing is more beautiful than these wonderful flowers.
Next, look at the big terra cotta pots in blue with a touch of gray. They have a more modern look than, say, simple plastic ones. And let’s add a simple, healthy fern that complements it with its natural look.
Add fall color
One of the most wonderful ways to decorate your outdoor space is to put bright flowers in no less colorful pots. In the picture below, you’ll see irresistible fall fiery hues that catch your eye immediately.
Another great fall pick-me-up is the croton. Take a close-up look at it. To say that it is beautiful is too little to say.
Look at the pictures above and below for an easy way to do this. Paint metal chairs. For example, in cool shades. Replace the cushions, or just cover them with another cloth. It’s a lot easier than you think.
