  1. Membrane or diaphragm – alternately fills two measuring chambers separated by a membrane. Each camera has a fixed volume. The inlet and outlet valves are asymmetrically synchronized and alternately let in and out gas. The movements of the membrane are converted by the lever into a turn of the drive of the counting device, which shows the amount of fuel passed through the device.
  2. Rotary gas meter – uses gas pressure in special tanks to drive two eight-shaped shafts (rotors), one of which is connected to the drive of the counting mechanism. The counter converts the number of revolutions to the volume of fuel. The advantage is low pressure operation.
  3. The turbine principle is based on measuring the flow velocity by counting the number of revolutions of the turbines that rotate under flow pressure. Such metering devices are used only at utilities and industrial enterprises to account for large volumes..
  4. The vortex flowmeter uses the dependence of the frequency of pressure fluctuations that occur after giving the jet a gaseous substance in a vortex shape. The mechanism for accounting for these fluctuations is complex, requires the use of sophisticated microprocessor technology, so such devices are expensive and are used only at large gas distribution enterprises.
