Today’s post The Forum City is dedicated to visitors to the site who are prone to such a movement in architecture as constructivism. Take a look at this non-trivial-looking project by Arquitectura X studio, located near Quito, Ecuador. The main distinguishing feature is the combination of concrete and wood, which gives the mansion an elegant and sophisticated look.
The history of construction, according to the architects, began as.
A Caribbean couple sought solitude against the backdrop of the delightful northern Andes. They owned a magnificent orchard two hours north of Quito. This valley is located at an altitude of 2470 meters above sea level between the Imbabura mountains (on the east side) and the Cotacachi mountains (on the west side). Customers had to decide to erect the cottage four days before going home. After a brief meeting with them, we found ourselves in a rather tricky situation: designing the property without site analysis.
Based on past experience, a universal scheme was designed to work on any terrain: an abstract glass house as a starting point. In addition, the planning takes into account factors such as the specifics of the landscape, weather conditions, the use of readily available materials. Their combination defined the shape and type of property.
The high seismicity of the region meant very strict controls, limiting even small deviations. The strict application of local building codes and technologies guarantees the reliability of the building. Basically the entire structure consists of a very strong concrete, the surface of which integrates perfectly into the surrounding rocky terrain.
The residence is formed of three blocks set in geometric order. On the first floor there is a large kitchen with a panoramic view. It can be combined with the dining room and living room (plenty of room for everyone). Sliding doors open onto a semi-open area with a barbecue stove.
Wide staircases with metal balustrades leading upwards. Here one can see the vast expanse: lush crowns of vegetation, a small town in the distance, crowned by a crown of mountain ranges. The combination of glass and wood creates a unique effect of 3D space as the sun’s rays pierce through the lattice walls. This is a fairly new approach in interior design.
The ambiance of the whole house will definitely have a beneficial effect on your mood, disconnecting you from life’s problems. Especially this closeness to nature is very necessary for us in times of global crisis.
What inspired the architects to incorporate laconicity in the Cotacachi House Concrete Forms project?
