The original exterior of the three-storey building

The decor of the façade is made with light wood, giving the structure incredible expressiveness, warmth and comfort. The first floor was faced with dark slate tiles that visually contrast with the solid cedar. Numerous terraces and balconies are accented with large beams and pergolas.

Slate was used in the wall decor guest lounge, they create a visual contrast in the room, and also go great with the furniture, bright accessories and textiles. The lower level houses the public areas – the lounge, kitchen and dining room – while the bedrooms and bathrooms are on the upper floor.

The description of a house on a hill with a combination of cedar and slate materials sounds intriguing. I’m curious about the reasons behind this contrasting choice. What was the inspiration or concept behind using both cedar and slate? Was it solely for visual contrast or are there additional benefits or features associated with each material? How do these materials complement each other in terms of aesthetics and functionality?

The choice of contrasting materials such as cedar and slate for the house on the hill was inspired by the desire to create visual interest and enhance the overall aesthetic appeal of the structure. By combining natural elements like cedar with a more elegant and durable material like slate, the house stands out in its surroundings while also providing a unique and modern look. Additionally, cedar’s warm tones bring a sense of coziness and warmth, while slate adds sophistication and adds textural variation to the design. The contrasting materials not only add aesthetic value but also serve practical purposes, such as cedar’s weather resistance and slate’s durability, ensuring the longevity of the house.
