Marrickville House’s quirky design

Marrickville House is a unique and eye-catching design. The house prominently features a series of narrow, sloping planes which ascend the roof and culminate in a cantilevered subsiding plane. This creates an impressive and varied form whilst emphasising the building’s concept of privacy. Additionally, the extensive use of horizontal and vertical screens helps provide the occupants with both protection from the sun and visual privacy. Inside, Marrickville House is composed of a series of cohesive and interconnected spaces, focusing on extensive use of natural light and ventilation. The building is then brought to life by a dynamic range of durable materials, including customised terracotta and blackbutt timber cladding. Altogether, Marrickville House is an innovative and adaptive design which considers the relationship between us and our environment.
