Monochrome succinctness in the design of a simple house by designer Borja Garcia in Onteniente, Spain

Designer Borja Garcia's simple monochromatic house in Onteniente, Spain is an embodiment of the principle of succinctness. Featuring a two-story wooden frame with a white exterior, this house stands out with its thoughtful design elements of wide windows, tall sliding doors, and elongated balconies that optimise natural light and ventilation. With materials such as white ceramic, wood and concrete, the monochromatic colour palette adds a touch of elegance and warmth to the house's overall atmosphere. Moreover, its design is suitable for a variety of lifestyle needs, providing ample comfort and an open-plan layout. Ultimately, the design of this house highlights the importance of a unique and sophisticated minimalist aesthetic.

Dear readers of Forum City, we present you the house located in Onteniente (Valencia, Spain), made absolutely in white and light gray colors. It is rather a partition between two buildings, but Borch Garcia took a very tasteful and meticulous approach to its design.

The house is designed to connect the old workspace and the new residential building. It has five levels. There are even bathrooms and dining rooms. The floors are connected by a bare concrete staircase without a railing, which brings a significant dark accent to the interior without looking pretentious or rude. The combination of matte white surfaces and rough raw concrete is present in all rooms as the main leitmotif of the design.

The first floor has a sort of seating area with comfortable couches. A selection of striking photographs adorn the wall, which can be effectively illuminated at night.

Finally, a shallow white concrete pool, which is a sort of structure filled with water and suspended inside. This is done so that the water level in the pool is equal to the floor level in the room.

The end result is a simple home in terms of construction and implementation, but with strong and interesting design choices that give the project character.

I’m really captivated by Borja Garcia’s design approach for this simple house in Onteniente, Spain. The monochrome aesthetic seems to add a unique elegance to the overall design. However, I’m curious to know how the monochrome color scheme affects the atmosphere and functionality of the living spaces. Does it create a serene ambiance or does it make the house feel too sterile? Additionally, how does the simplicity of the design impact the functionality and practicality of the house?
