On geometric shapes: a unique home design by Potiropoulos D+L Architects, Nikaia, Larissa, Greece
This one-of-a-kind home design by Potiropoulos D+L Architects is located in Nikaia, Larissa, Greece. It boasts a grand entrance hosting three distinct geometric shapes, intricately interweaving with each other, that bring to life a truly unique and captivating design. It features six levels, stretching out horizontally, and is sure to offer ample sun exposure, private outdoor spaces, and stunning vistas. This home design is a prime example of exemplary architectural design, as its distinctive geometry allows for a multitude of views, thus creating a truly unique and alluring home.
The project is made in the form of the letter L and has the most balanced forms and volume. The design is based on geometric forms. The unusual combination of cool concrete and warm wood created a beautiful, minimalist look.
As for the external architecture, thanks to the unique L-shape, the whole complex (house and swimming pool) fits perfectly into the regular geometric shape of the rectangle. Rectangles and squares are the basic shapes both for the house and its individual parts. So, for example, the huge square windows let in the maximum amount of light and heat. High ceilings and large windows contribute to the enjoyment of the maximum space inside. Even the central staircase in the living room, made of glass, is able to penetrate into the farthest corners of the room a lot of warmth and bright light.

Potiropoulos D+L Architects were inspired by the concept of creating a unique home design centered around geometric shapes as a way to challenge traditional architectural norms and create a visually stunning and innovative structure. The architects ensured seamless integration with the surrounding environment in Nikaia, Larissa, Greece, by carefully considering the topography, climate, and existing structures. By utilizing the geometric shapes in the design, the architects were able to establish a harmonious relationship between the home and its surroundings. The main geometric shape used in the design is a triangle, which represents stability, balance, and harmony. The triangular elements are seen in the roof angles, wall panels, and courtyard layout, creating a cohesive and impactful visual language. Additionally, circles and curves are incorporated to soften the overall form and enhance the organic relationship with the landscape. These geometric shapes not only contribute to the aesthetic appeal but also convey a sense of unity, modernity, and integration with the environment.
