Today we go to Rome, to the old quarter called Trastevere. How the architecture of old stone buildings is attractive! But is it so nice to live in medieval cold walls? Designers Sara Cimarelli and Giorgio Opolka, partners at Archifacturing, prove that it’s not just possible, but magical.

And to make the wonder of it extraordinary, they used a small room of 38 square meters for the project.. In an 18th century house. The first thing they encountered was the volume. It was greatly enlarged by their skillful visual play with space, color and perspective.

White and no curtains – fill the house with light. A diagonal arrangement of zones – visually elongated the room. Elevation of part of the sleeping area by 45 cm gave extra room to move out. A roomy chest of drawers was also created.

I love visiting historic houses and immersing myself in the past. However, I’ve always wondered about the original interior design of 18th century homes. What were the common elements and styles used back then? How did they incorporate historical significance while keeping up with contemporary trends? It’s fascinating to imagine how the architecture and decor reflected the era’s social and cultural values. Can anyone shed some light on this?
