We present the architects and designers of Izquierdo Lehmann Arquitectos’ redesign of a house with an ocean view atop a rocky cliff in Santiago, Chile. According to the designers, the project consists of cottages designed for three generations of the family. Casas 31 is located in Punta Pita, two hours north of Santiago, on the shores of the Pacific Ocean. The residence is in the middle of a cliff overlooking the beach. The driveway is on its south side.
Both buildings are built framed by cliffs and vegetation. Home on the west side of the property is for the kids, parent’s house on the east. They are connected both internally and externally and have a system of connecting walkways blended into the landscape. The dwellings are placed facing each other, keeping the view from the north to the sea and shielding the occupants from unnecessary attention from neighbors and wind from the south. Decorative stone was used as the finishing material. His application integrates the buildings with the surrounding nature and landscape.
