One part of the house sits lower on the hillside, allowing for better natural ventilation of the rooms and privacy.
The bedroom and living room dรฉcor maintains a reasonable balance between openness and quiet privacy, while boardwalk platforms with pivoting wall panels allow you to enjoy the surrounding views and sounds of a southern summer by day and night. Elegant, dark stained cladding gives the home a contemporary look. The abundance of wood in the decoration also explains the warm and welcoming nature of the interior.
The use of any coloristic solutions in the decor is reduced to an absolute minimum. In this sense, the designers relied heavily on natural colors and textures of wood. And thereโs hardly any point in making the interior more colourful if you have such an impressive backdrop as this landscape outside the windows!
Just behind the house, sprawling sludge trees and outlying islands form some of the postcard views for which New Zealand is so famous.

What inspired the minimalist design of Castle Rock House coastal residence? How does the design complement the surrounding natural landscape? Is there a specific concept or philosophy behind the project?
