The building was designed as a summer residence for the client’s family of four and their many friends. The extremely rugged topography of the plot completely defines the character of the house design and makes it very different from the neighbouring Residence in Syros I.
The layout of the residence features a clear square containing the common areas of the living room and kitchen, and a partially recessed rectangular volume with bedrooms. The guest rooms are separated from the hillside by a stone wall, a typical structure for local architecture.
The design of the Residence in Syros II is the result of a clever blend of national traditions and modern architecture. An utterly meditative image of the kitchen which embodies the ideal family home.
