We once again decided to dig into the archives of our website to find out what original country house projects were the most popular in the past 2013. Top twenty architectural and design choices.
1. Butterfly Beach by Maienza-Wilson Interior Design + Architecture
The architects at Malcom Designs worked on this project with J. Brown Builders. The cottage is located in Massachusetts, USA. The owners’ main requirement was to have the exterior of the house as close as possible to the traditional style. Inside, the house needed to be spacious, comfortable and modern.
The architects approached the task with the utmost commitment. The façade of the mansion was brick and the pitched roof was tiled.
The light background of the interior is complemented by bright accessories and textiles, of which some items and elements of furniture are made. The lighting fixtures deserve special attention, bringing the quiet atmosphere of the rooms to life with their intense colors.
The bright living room opens onto the large outdoor pool with sun loungers. Numerous windows provide an excellent view of the picturesque surroundings and let sunlight into all the rooms of the country house.
3. Duplex at Beacon Court
This is the result of two leading architecture studios working together on a mansion in California, USA. The hilly surroundings, open terrace and floor-to-ceiling windows allow for a panoramic view of the city.
Interior integrity is enhanced by consistent color scheme. The sleek, high-gloss, metallic surfaces of modern furniture are beautifully combined here with objects of deliberately untreated wood.
Highlights of the project are the transparent wine cellar, a cozy room with a home theater, where you can sit comfortably among the comfortable cushions while watching a movie, a stunning luxury pool and a wide patio.

Window openings let in sunlight, which creates a cozy and warm atmosphere in the ergonomic space of the house. Soft pastel colors of furniture and trim, lovely accessories make the house exceptionally cozy and comfortable.

7. An architectural masterpiece in Johannesburg, South Africa
This South Attica home in Anavyssos was designed for a family of four, one parent and two children, with the intention of offering quality accommodation to guests. The main desires were sea views from all four bedrooms, an office, a game room, and an emphasis on energy-efficient technology.
Another important requirement was to protect the mansion from the unpleasant local weather (high winds). The 70 cm wide masonry walls do just fine. On the first floor the stone, like concrete columns, is not only a functional, but also a decorative element, fitting harmoniously into the interior. The combination of different materials – wood, metal, glass, painted plaster – is surprising.
9. Mansion with a swimming pool in Connecticut, USA
A design studio, which designs luxury residential and commercial buildings and infuses them with decorative accessories, energy and warmth, worked on the interior. The firm, with over 20 years of experience, is the recipient of both national and international awards.
Here was used a fresh, energetic and forward-thinking approach to modern interior design. Its underlying philosophy is that space has no borders and has endless possibilities. A close and friendly liaison with the clients helps to create a project that reflects their unique personality, character and way of life.
11. Skyhouse by David Hotson Architect
The stunning design of the Victorian façade at Armadale, southeast of the central business district of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, was retained for this project, while the rear façade facing the backyard was a truly creative design decision.
The project called for a complete renovation of the building and expansion of the second floor, which would be divided into two units – for parents and their children.
High ceilings, expansive glass windows, swimming pool and home gym.
The layout of the house includes a living room, dining room, kitchen, play room for children, fireplace room, two studies and 6 large bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. The courtyard has a covered parking for 6 cars equipped with security, air conditioning and heating.

The beautiful interior is imbued with warmth and coziness. Carefully selected furniture meets the ideas of modern luxury. A large living room with beautiful wooden floors is complemented by an irregularly shaped staircase, which would be the perfect focal point in any modern mansion.
Glass sliding doors open onto the terrace, steps lead down to the green lawn and on to the swimming pool, which completes the idyllic view of the impeccable work of the architects and designers.

The Kuala Lumpur townhouse was designed by a Malaysian architectural firm. The result is stunning: A modern building with innovative and unusual decorative details. The oval gray ottoman and the zebra-like carpet complete the look. Huge windows and glossy poured flooring merge the living room with the dining room, where unusual light fixtures adorn the dining table.
An oak staircase leads to the bedrooms, each of which has its own character. One of them is decorated with a white rug with expressive flowers, which harmonizes with the black and white plaid.
