Unusual renovation project of a historic London home with a modern twist

This is a renovation project of an old, historic London home with a fresh, modern touch. The renovation adds contemporary amenities while preserving the home's classic features, including elements such as period fireplaces, elegant staircases, gorgeous mouldings, and generous proportions. The house also boasts a cutting-edge roof extension with skylights, which provides additional living space and natural light, as well as a brand-new kitchen and bathrooms. This renovation project is an excellent example of how to blend traditional features and modern elements to create a timeless and beautiful living space.

The tint, which also covers the walls, floor, furniture and wall construction, seems to have “seeped” into the interior spaces and created an atmosphere of light and purity. In order to obtain additional interior space the basement of the house was enlarged as requested by the client and is again accessed by a white staircase with illuminated staircases that seem to be suspended in the air.

Open-plan kitchen and living room connects via sliding doors to a covered patio and cozy outdoor dining area in a small courtyard. A staircase with wooden steps leads up through an opening in the kitchen wall to the second floor with three bedrooms and a bathroom.

An unusual use of recessed skylights –one has been incorporated into the master bedroom space, with the other two becoming part of the shower rooms.

Of course! In the renovation, we focused on preserving the historic charm of the space while incorporating modern elements to create a unique blend of old and new. Some specific design choices included exposed brick walls juxtaposed with sleek, minimalist furniture, original hardwood floors paired with industrial lighting fixtures, and antique architectural details seamlessly integrated with contemporary finishes. The goal was to highlight the character of the historic building while adding a fresh, modern twist to give it a new life.
