“Beautiful country house” welcomes everyone! How do you think, is it possible to turn an old barn, which had stood in disrepair for a long time, not just into a living space, but into a house from which you will not want to leave and which is not ashamed to show off before the guests? Yes, it can be. The selection of photos shows it.
The old barn does not give the impression of a cozy and glamorous family nest at all. But this is only at first glance. You’ll be surprised to learn that miracles do happen in life from time to time.
See how amazingly stylish old cowsheds can become when turned into living quarters by a professional designer’s hand. They are all unique and each one has its own beautiful story. We’ve chosen some of the most worthwhile. Enjoy!
Impressive project
We’re going to start with this amazing house. The owner decorated the room as a living space with the possibility of holding various events in it. The structure, which formerly housed a utility room, now includes a workshop that also serves as a kitchen, an apartment with a bunk bed and a bathroom.
The transformation was done with simple materials and common colors. The result is an original house that has its own twist.
Josephine’s family home interior design
This glamorous family manor house also used to be an old building used as an animal sanctuary. It’s in a great, picturesque spot. Inside, its design and decor are simple but beautiful. The house has a concrete floor and exposed wooden beams, giving it character. The glass chandelier adds glamour and sophistication to the space. The resulting image in the style of eclectic, where cozy, modern and harmoniously combine all its details.
400 2 have become a magnificent home
Here’s another beautiful family homestead hiding an amazing secret. Originally it was a barn, but over time it has become moldy and aged in places. Now it’s a beautiful and cozy family home of about 400 m2. It was extended a bit to realize all the ideas of the project. You’ll be hard-pressed to find a cozier family home.
An old design turned into a modern and multifunctional living space
Located in Norfolk, UK, this structure, originally a barn, has been remodeled with a design. Many transformations have been made in it. By design, the building was supposed to look more open and airy than it did before.
Some of the barn’s characteristic features were retained to give the place its distinctive flair. For example, the wooden beams remained untouched. Everything else has been replaced with new. The polished concrete floors and plywood furniture work beautifully together to create a beautiful image in today’s style.
Spectacular Transformations in Quint
Located in the province of Caceres, this old barn was long abandoned until it was discovered by its current owners. They turned to architectural firm Abatop for help in transforming the barn into a family homestead.
The house ended up being unusual, with its inherent charm and rich history. The walls were made of stone, which gave the character. The exterior has been preserved in almost pristine condition, while the interior has been transformed into housing with features of our era. Beautiful homestead, where the whole family lives, surrounded by a magnificent natural landscape.
A barn turned into a modern structure with a pool
This structure formerly housed a bank that stood in Leesburg, Virginia, USA, on the banks of the Potomac River. Its owners first wanted to demolish the building, but after being turned down, they decided to renovate and reuse the structure. The barn still has great potential, despite its venerable age.
The irreversible transformation of a 200-year-old structure
The last project we are going to present to you today is a truly amazing transformation of a structure located in Zutphen (Netherlands). The barn became a family residence with a design developed in 2004.
Architects have created a new extended living space. It contains a large kitchen, study and guest area. The structure was not completely demolished and converted. Only a few elements have been replaced with modern ones.
These designs sound fascinating! I’m curious to know what factors were considered when transforming the old barns into homes. Did the architects prioritize maintaining the barn’s original structure or did they completely reimagine it? How did they address challenges such as insulation, plumbing, and electrical systems? And, most importantly, what inspired these stunning transformations?
