Here’s what Julia Attlee, the owner of the country barn, had to say:
“There was a great desire to occupy the beautiful old farm building and bring it back to its former glory. But in these places to find such a building was somewhat difficult.
Julia stumbled upon this barn quite by accident. It was for sale, already had planning permission and was in one of the most beautiful parts of the English countryside.
At the time of purchase in 2004, the building was completely abandoned. Some roof fragments were missing, but overall the structure, including the stone walls, was in pretty good shape.
By 2007, it was a comfortable home. Its interior decoration used mostly natural materials: stone, oak, glass and steel.
The owners did not want the usual zoning into separate rooms. The entire interior space retains a hint that the building was once a barn.
The aim of the owners was for visitors to feel that they have come to an unusual house and understand that, despite the external appearance, it is a very beautiful and functional place, created for living.
The first floor includes two bedrooms, recreation room, kitchen and dining room. And there are entertainment rooms, a studio, a suite, a library and an art gallery.
This English barn recreation sounds intriguing! Could you please provide more details about what makes it so cozy and inviting?
This sounds absolutely delightful! I’m curious to know what makes this English barn recreation so cozy. Is it the rustic decor, the warm lighting, or perhaps the comfortable seating? Also, I’m wondering if there are any unique features or activities in this barn that contribute to the overall experience of coziness. It would be great to hear more about it!
