Remodeling a rustic home for a young family, from a stable to an apartment
This article explores the story of a young family's journey to remodel their rustic home, an old stable, into a comfortable, livable apartment. While the project entailed many challenges, from plumbing and insulation to finding the right fixtures, the family achieved their vision of a modern, yet cozy home that preserves its classic charm. With the use of natural materials, cleverly designed solutions, and creative thinking, the family was able to create a space that accommodates their lifestyle while being an ode to the historic building. The result is a unique space that is functional, energy-efficient, and aesthetically pleasing.
The clients, an artist and a digital design specialist, didn’t keep horses themselves and felt a renovation of the rustic house was needed. SHED Architecture& Design transformed the stalls into a multifunctional studio for working and creating, as well as hosting guests.
Here is the end result.
Let’s take a look inside. White walls and ceiling, wooden elements, concrete floors and splashes of yellow make up the color scheme of the interior.
