The 388-square-foot treehouse includes a kitchen, spacious living room and bedroom, plus stairs leading up to a balcony.
It might seem like a small house to many, but it also has additional “living” areas, such as an outdoor terrace with panoramic views of the National Park (forest preserve) and a garden with its own vegetables, fruits and herbs. So this couple doesn’t feel isolated at all.
The house is environmentally friendly, because almost all of the electricity is generated by solar panels. Of course, there are also some peculiarities of living in such a house: traditionally, fire sentries did not have bathrooms, so the owners decided to make an extension on the ground level, and put the shower outside, so to speak, “on the deck” (note. outdoors).
But for the couple, such inconveniences, on the other hand, are fascinating because, they say, they live close to nature and as one of the owners says:
My favorite time of year for showers is winter. Because when the snow falls, we willy-nilly have to walk a little barefoot on it. Then we turn on the hot water… and it’s a combination of hot and cold, like yin and yang, woven together.
And when we’re taking a bath we can always gaze at the stars! A true fairy tale!
